Occupy Till I Come

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts:
and be ready always to give an answer
to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you
with meekness and fear:

Who is Brother Bird?

In the foothills of the Blue Ridge,

A peculiar Brother Bird

Started teaching a new doctrine

That no one had ever heard.

For he held that John the Baptist,

Who had warned of coming wrath,

Said the Lord His wheat would gather,

But would “burn up” all the chaff.

And he emphasized the “burn up”:

“Yes sir, burn up I have read!”

And he said it was just simply

What the Bible clearly said.

Peculiar Brother Bird

Is this really a new doctrine? Have they not read?

Mat 3:11-12
(11)  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
(12)  Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

I am not the author of this poem, but it is something that I would like to share. The full work is now available through the download link below:

Additional Works by the Same Author

Although these do not use the character of Brother Bird, they also reflect on this same theme.

Who is the Real Brother Bird?

Although Brother Bird is a fictional character, he is also a composite sketch of those who are willing to pick up their bibles and insist that we should go back to the words of scripture, discarding the pagan traditions and philosophies, and find out what the scripture really says about life, death, the resurrection, and the destruction of the wicked.

“Yes, we need discerning brothers

Who are careful with their words,

Oh, but humor me, my brother-

We sure need some noisy Birds

“To keep emphasizing PERISH,

'Yes, it's perish we have read!'

And to say “It is just simply

What the Bible clearly said!

Brother Bird is more than one person. I am hoping that this site will help to educate, inspire, and empower people to join the ranks of Brother Bird, to become Brother Bird. We need more noisy birds.

The Brother Bird Badge

I did not write the Brother Bird poems that I have on this page, but I could sympathize so much with what I read. These things had also happened to me. As such, I am also glad to take my place beside such as Brother Bird. I would like to share a message that I received from the author of these poems when we were  discussing the circumstances surrounding my essay What Christ Teaches Concerning Future Punishment as also referenced on the Death and Hell page of this site.

"Thank you for sharing this story.  It was kind of funny as I was reading it I was simultaneously thinking "incredible!" and "typical" at the same time.  Then I thought How can it be 'incredible' and 'typical' at the same time?  I reckon it must be that although I have faced so many similar situations in discussions (as "Brother Bird" represents) I still shake my head in bewilderment at such responses.
You may remember that Brother Bird himself is a composite of several people.  With this experience that you just had, and with your excellent reasoning based on the clear wording of Scripture exhibited in your writing, I now officially include you as part of the composite character, our dear Brother Bird!  I hope you won't mind."

I am also Brother Bird.
